Last week, we had the chance to give one of our young adults in Extended Foster Care a car that was generously donated by incredible members of our community. She showed us she was ready to take on the responsibility of having her own car.
She works full time as a caregiver, sometimes more than 60 hours a week. She found her own insurance, looked into repair and maintenance costs ahead of time, and started a separate savings account just for her car. She also learned how to transfer a title into her name and how to complete her registration on her own. It was a huge step toward independence for her, and the whole process became a real learning moment.
She’s responsible, driven, and truly deserving. We’re grateful we could support her with this opportunity.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Friends of Ohana was able to cover her registration for the next two years. And to our amazing supporters who donated the vehicle, your kindness made a real difference in her life.
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. We’re thankful to be part of a community that makes that possible!
